Fergus Falls Roller Girls

Well, It's been awhile since I posted anything pertaining to our new Derby League. First, I wish to thank everyone who had either commented or even viewed that last thread. Sending you all some Derby Love!! Now onto the news...

We have 15 active ladies, several bringing talents they have acquired from our derby leagues to our newbie one! This is exciting as we have a resource within the Roller Girls, that most leagues do not have. Also, we are more far-reaching than the Fergus Falls area...ladies from Alexandria, Morris, Hancock and Underwood are coming to join us!! With even more expressing interest and a desire; this could be a HUGE league with possibilities of intra-league bouting in our future!

We have established a Board of Directors, to handle many aspects of our non-profit organization from completing the paperwork to get an 'assumed name' (via the MN Secretary of State) to all the fundraising possibilities (for other non-profit groups within our area), sponsorship, recruitment and a dozen other responsibilities. It's been a grand adventure and we have only just begun on this venture!!

Having begun intense training and "sneaker practices" (to learn the 35 pages of rules & regulations set forth by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association), every Thursday from 6 pm til 8 pm at the park on Broadway. We will be increasing training to Tuesdays as well with possibility for Sundays, in the future. In addition, each lady is responsible for additional weight-lifting, cardio & circuit training during the rest of the week. We hope to line up an indoor track for actual skate practices, this is dependent on sponsorship revenues and venue contracts. (The places we are looking will cost us an hourly fee for practicing and the necessary carrying of liability insurance, as well.)
